So how do you improve your content writing skills?

Content writing means creating content that people will want to read and share, it means building your business authority and brand awareness no matter what your niche.

Authenticity Vs Perfection.

I think the reason that many bloggers stumble when it comes to writing content, is they try too hard to produce the perfect post.

The simple fact is, there is no such thing as the perfect post.

The main focus of concentration should be on creating authentic articles.

Most of us blog as an effective way to connect with our audience, build authority and create relationships.

Yet 60 percent of marketers say creating engaging content is a huge challenge for them.

So how can you become a better content writer that’s known, respected and trusted?

I read many blogs each week and there are a few common factors that in my personal opinion cause them to fall short of writing quality.

Firstly I see words joined together  – (Likethis) – no space, which tells me that the author has not proofread before publishing.

Another mistake is poor punctuation – for example, (dont instead of don’t).

So I understand that English is not everyone’s  first language and that again in my personal opinion forgives many errors.

But for those whose natural language is English, simple errors such as these are unforgivable.

Many blog authors say it’s not how you write but what you write and I’m sorry but how you write is just as important.

You may well be an authority in your Niche, but you should always be prepared to improve your skills and that means writing quality too.

I receive emails every day from Internet Marketers telling me about some great new tool I need.

These same marketers would do well to download a tool called “Grammarly”. Now, this really is a cool piece of software which looks after your spelling and grammar as you write.

There is, of course, a premium version but the free version works really well.

So with my little rant out of the way let’s get back to the point of this post.

Improving your Content Writing skills means adopting a writing regimen.

Get into the habit of writing daily, try using a notepad and pen, write down your thoughts and ideas, make it a daily routine.

The next time you sit in front of your computer you’ll find it much easier to write that next post.

Using Your Content As A Promotion.

The whole idea of writing content is to inform your readers of new ideas, promotions, products, and trends within your niche.

In doing so you should avoid turning your content into a sales pitch, this will lose you more readers than you gain.

You need to find the balance between selling and informing but if you are intent on selling something try creating a review post.

Use Headlines and Subheadings.

Headlines or titles are found in social media, email, and videos.

Their purpose is to break up your content into readable sections and pull back the reader’s attention to your next point or statement.

A good headline could be the difference between a post going viral and one that’s never seen.

Avoid Long Introductions.

I feel another rant coming on here. Long introductions are top of my hate list, most especially in video.

Let me explain;

One particular Internet Marketer (Who shall remain nameless) introduces himself followed by his business partners. Then continues to talk about his family and children and where they live.

This is something he does in every video he makes and frankly once you’ve gotten through the first, the next one you come to is just impossible to watch.

It’s the same with writing, your post introduction should be brief and to the point. If you want to introduce yourself, well I hope you have an about page or at the very least an author bio box at the end of your post.

Write in a way that is easy to the eye.

Don’t get lost in your narrative, make sure it flows, is easy to follow and understand.

Train yourself to write using clearly defined words arranged into concise sentences.

This way you communicate with your audience clearly in a way that they will understand your content.

Forget the mumbo jumbo and buzzwords, forget the long fancy paragraphs. write clearly, articulate your thoughts, and write with clarity.

To Conclude.

You don’t need to have a degree in order to be good at content writing nor do You need a lot of writing experience to grow a huge following and become an authority in your niche.

You just need to care about your audience.
