Killer Blogging Mistakes
Blogging is one of the most lucrative moneymaking methods today, but it’s also really easy to make those simple blogging mistakes that will just screw everything up. The fact is the vast majority of bloggers make little to no money. Making these mistakes could be easily avoided if only they knew what they were.
In this article, I’m going to look at what can absolutely kill your blog before you get off the start line.
Mistake #1 – Not choosing the right Niche from the start!
If you intend yo make money from your blogging it is important to start by selecting the right niche. Otherwise, everything you do will be a complete waste of time and money.
So how do you choose the Right Niche? – Well, there are a couple of factors to look at.
- The Competition – Believe it or not competition is a good thing because it almost certainly means that there is an interest in that area. On the other hand, too much competition could be a not so good indicator as it may mean that this particular niche is saturated with people trying to earn from it.
- Monetization – Look to see if there are a lot of products available to promote this will be a good indicator of how profitable the niche is. If a niche has no competition and few or no products available to promote then there is probably no profit in entering into it.
- Commercial Intent – Check to see id there are active buyers in the niche. It is important to know that you have prospects willing to purchase your products.
- Traffic – Traffic, of course, is vital to you earning online since you could have a fantastic site and a great product but with no traffic you are not going to make money.
Mistake #2 – Giving Up Too Soon.
Perhaps the most common mistake aside from choosing the wrong niche is simply giving up too soon. Almost any blog could eventually become very profitable if given enough time, but it seem that the majority of people give up long before their blog have an opportunity to make money.
The average New High street Business for example doesn’t turn a profit for at lease a couple of years so why expect a brand new blog to make money in just a couple of months.
Some people mistakenly think blogging is a “get rich quick” method. It’s not. It takes time, hard work, and dedication. It’s not easy. It’s not fast. It’s not a miracle.
Blogging isn’t just about writing a new post once or twice a week especially if you want to earn money from it, there’s much more to it than that. It’s about social media, creating relationships, forming associations, creating a list and having something worthwhile to sell. it’s about not making stupid blogging mistakes.
Mistake #3 – Not promoting Your Blog.
A couple of years ago, as long as you did some keyword research and wrote about 300 words of keyword-rich content, you could pretty much count on making some money with a blog.
Unfortunately with Googles growing menagerie of Penguins, Pandas and Hummingbirds it’s a different story today. Their idea behind the changing algorithms was to stops all the Spammers who flooded the internet with poor quality content full of adsense ads thus it has now become harder for everyone.
Promoting your blog takes time effort and work, you need to get your site out there and one good way to do this is to blog comment. Make sure that you are constructive when blog commenting, add something to the conversation or if you fancy being controversial offer a differing opinion as long as it’s a valuable contribution the blog owner should publish it.
Mistake #4 – Not Building a List
For as long as the internet has been in existence it’s been said over and over again, but some people still don’t get it.
“THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST” and one of the biggest Blogging Mistakes you could possible make is to Not Build a List of Subscribers. I’ll repeat that in case you weren’t paying attention! Make it your personal mantra. If you truly want to succeed online, you really, really need to build an email list!
